Keypoint Law featured in New South Wales Law Society Journal

Keypoint is pleased to advise that is has been featured in the cover story of the October 2016 edition of the NSW Law Society Journal, in an article on billable hour targets.

The Journal article focuses on some of the adverse effects of billable hour targets, both on lawyers and on clients, and how many law firms are now moving away from such targets.  The article also makes reference to the landmark NARS report of 2014 which identifies billable hour targets as the single biggest cause of attrition of women from the Law.

Keypoint Law is featured as one of the new-model law firms which have abandoned billable hour targets.  Keypoint’s CEO Warren Kalinko stated:

Keypoint Law, and its UK founder Keystone Law, has operated without billable hour targets since their inception.  We’ve found this to be a positive change both for lawyers and for clients.  It changes the client from being a “KPI of the firm” – against which lawyers are under relentless pressure to bill, to a situation where lawyers are free to work with clients as they think appropriate without having to justify the time they invest in a client to the firm.  This takes significant pressure out of the client relationship and drives high levels of satisfaction amongst clients and lawyers”.

Keypoint is one of Australia’s leading NewLaw firms.  It has grown to 21 senior lawyers since launching just over 2 years ago, and recently won “Australian Boutique Law Firm of the Year” at the 2016 Australasian Law Awards.
