Andrew Goatcher is a Consulting Principal with over 30 years’ experience advising clients in complex commercial litigation, with a particular focus on intellectual property disputes and advisory work.
Andrew has acted in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including disputes involving patents, registered designs, trade marks and copyright, as well as claims concerning misleading and deceptive conduct under the Australian Consumer Law. He is known for his strategic, commercially grounded approach to resolving high-stakes disputes.
Andrew has advised clients across a diverse range of industries, including mining, manufacturing, agriculture, fashion, automotive, food and electronics, and regularly works with both Australian and international businesses.
Andrew is consistently recognised by Best Lawyers in Australia and Doyle’s Guide for his expertise in intellectual property law. He is also a former President of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).

- Providing commercial and related IP advice for Australia’s premier scientific research organisation – including in relation to conflicts of interest and safeguarding of confidential information.
- Advising several building and building supply companies in relation to relating to registered designs, patents, trade marks and copyright – including acting in infringement matters.
- Acting and advising for Australian camping equipment manufacturer and supplier in relation to trade mark, and patent related matters.
- Acting for and advising several heavy transport manufacturers in relation to patent, confidential information and copyright matters.
