Keypoint Law has co-advised the Chilli Marketing Group in relation to Coca-Cola Amatil’s acquisition of distribution rights to Australia’s leading flavoured cider, Rekorderlig Cider.
Deal advisors: In-house Legal Director, Keypoint Law and Addleshaw Goddard LLP (Chilli Marketing Group); Coca-Cola Amatil’s advisors (un-disclosed).
Deal: Coca Cola Amatil has acquired a 28-year distribution agreement for Swedish owned Rekorderlig Cider.
Key players: The Chilli Marketing team was led by its in-house Legal Director, Andy Curtis, working with Douglas Linnette of Keypoint Law, Sydney, in relation to the Australian components, with Addleshaw Goddard LLP advising on the UK aspects.
Deal significance: Chilli Marketing launched Rekorderlig Cider in Australia in 2009 (as global distribution rights holder for the Swedish owned brand), later cementing a 5-year distribution and marketing tie-up with Coca-Cola Amatil. Rekorderlig is now the leading flavoured cider in Australia and this deal sees Coca-Cola Amatil assume full responsibility for promotion and marketing of the brand in Australia.
Douglas Linnette, Chilli’s Australian lawyer, said:
“I’ve been delighted to support Chilli Marketing since their launch of Rekorderlig in Australia – we congratulate them on this transaction.”
