Richard is an experienced business adviser and director with over 30 years’ experience as a respected company secretary and commonsense commercial lawyer.

He is a well-regarded adviser to Boards and business executives. A person of professional standing, integrity and intellectual authority, Richard has specialised knowledge in the areas of corporate governance, company law, competition and consumer law, risk management, commercial law generally, employee share plans, finance and securities.

Richard also consults to law firms and government departments on legal practice management.

He was on the Committee of Australian Corporate Lawyers Association (ACLA) (Victorian branch) for 17 years and is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria (on the Competition and Consumer Law committee) and the Australian Legal Practice Management Association.

Richard has been Company Secretary and General Counsel for a top 100 ASX company, with operations in Australasia, North America, Asia and Europe. He has had various management and legal roles in other public companies and was Chief Executive Officer of a medium-sized law firm where he undertook a wide-ranging change management program. Prior to joining Keypoint, Richard was director of Linchpin Legal a boutique law firm he founded in 2006.

Richard has implemented Business Ethics and Trade Practices compliance programs for multinational companies and reduced legal costs for companies through effective litigation case management, training and novel approaches to managing external legal resources.

Richard has a keen interest in music and art and for two years was an itinerant opera singer engaged by various companies in Europe.

He is an experienced public speaker and acts as Master of Ceremonies for the German Australian Opera Grant and ACLA Corporate Counsel Days, and has lectured in Corporate Governance at Swinburne University and Lawyers’ Skills at Leo Cussen Institute.

Richard is based in Melbourne.
