Keypoint Law has continued to expand its corporate, capital markets and funds management expertise with the appointment of Warwick Painter and Phil Jamieson as Consulting Principals in Sydney.

Warwick Painter is a leading corporate, capital markets and funds management lawyer with more than 30 years’ experience gained in private practice and as a senior corporate in-house counsel. Prior to joining Keypoint, Warwick was a partner at Mills Oakley and DLA Piper and, before that, was a partner at Allens Arthur Robinson for 11 years. In all, he has more than 18 years’ experience as a partner in private practice working on both domestic and international transactions.

Prior to joining Allens Arthur Robinson as a partner, Warwick was a senior corporate in-house counsel at Westpac for 14 years, working on mergers & acquisitions, capital raisings, structured products and corporate transactions in the banking and financial services sector.

Warwick has significant expertise in corporate law, managed funds, financial services regulation and equity capital markets, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and ASX listings, corporate restructuring, listed and unlisted managed investment schemes, real estate investment trusts (REITS) and the regulation and conduct of financial markets.

Warwick is recognised in ‘The Best LawyersTM in Australia’ for his expertise in corporate law and equity capital markets.

Phil Jamieson is a transactional lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience across corporate finance, structured finance, funds, insurance and corporate law matters in Australia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Korea. Prior to joining Keypoint, Phil held roles at Colin Biggers & Paisley, Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper), PwC and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu in Japan.

Phil was resident in Japan for more than 8 years, initially in private practice with Nagashim Ohno & Tsunematsu, before being appointed Group General Counsel of a major real estate investment and fund management firm in Japan. During that period, he was deeply involved in many corporate and fund debt and equity capital raising transactions across the Asian region, and unlisted fund formations. Since returning to Australia, Phil has been heavily involved in small cap debt and equity capital raisings in the start-up sector, both for investment houses and start-ups.

Phil and Warwick have worked closely together in their previous roles on a number of fund structuring and capital raising transactions both in Australia and across the Asia region. The duo intend to continue to collaborate closely at Keypoint to deliver outstanding results for clients across the full spectrum of corporate, capital raising and funds management transactions.

Speaking of the appointments, Warren Kalinko, Keypoint’s CEO, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Warwick and Phil to Keypoint. Both are outstanding senior lawyers with exceptional reputations who bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth of our corporate and capital markets practice.

He continued:

The appointment of Warwick and Phil reflects Keypoint’s continued focus on expanding our client offering and driving the growth of the firm with the addition of experienced and well‑respected senior lawyers”.

The appointment of Warwick Painter and Phil Jamieson follows recent additions to the firm’s corporate team, including the appointment of Doug Robertson (former Executive Director and Head of Corporate, EY) in Melbourne and James Halliday (former M&A Partner, Baker McKenzie) in Sydney.
